Twizzlers Landmark Summer Promotion

What’s your favorite family road trip destination?

Twizzlers® Candy, the perfect on-the-go treat, is helping to sweeten family travel this summer with the Twizzlers Landmark Summer™ promotion. The promotion gives consumers the chance to win a trip to a well-known United States destination plus daily, road trip-themed prizes throughout the summer.

Ben and I two years ago, made the long drive from Massachusetts, to Miami Florida, with two kids, and my Sister and her friend.

Of course there were ups and downs (with two small children) but getting to explore all the fun new places, and getting to say "I just drove over 2000 miles" was awesome!!!

We got to see South Of The Border (a very fun little "town," Savannah GA, and even Disney World (lol!!))

We want to do another long drive like that. We are thinking we might try California at some point.

We just have to figure out how to take over a month off from work!!!According to family travel expert Emily Kaufman, “The Travel Mom,” families are starting to think past the backyard “staycation” and are rediscovering the freedom of the open road. Kaufman shares the following tips for a fun and safe family road trip:

■Create a boredom bag. Convert a hanging travel cosmetic case into a case full of fun and hang it from the seat back in front of the kids’ seats. Consider creating fun works of art with Twizzlers
Pull ‘n’ Peel Candy before snacking on them!
■Take your trip “online.” From GPS systems to phone applications, trips are no longer a navigation nightmare.
■Think through the snacks you pack. Avoid packing snacks that are easy to spill like juice boxes or snacks that melt. Try plastic bottles with sports tops and bring along Twizzlers Candy or Twizzlers Nibs Candy – they are easy to share and don’t melt, making them the perfect car ride treat.

ENTER DAILY for a chance to win a GPS Unit, a digital camera, National Parks Guidebooks or the Grand Prize a vacation to your favorite American Landmark!

Daily entry runs from 5/15/11 - 9/4/11!

Disclosure: I wrote this post in order to enter a contest to win a prize pack from Twizzlers and Mom Blogger's Club. All thoughts are my own

1896 House Review Williamstown MA

For a late Valentine's Gift Day, my Sister stayed over and watched the kids, so my Husband Ben and I could get away for the night.

We wanted to stay somewhere alittle ways away, but close enough, in case there was a problem.

After doing some research online, I found the 1896 House in Williamstown, MA. This town is in the Berkshires, where my Husband and I had never gone. It is about an hour and a half from our house.

Looking at the pictures on line, I was hooked. The price was reasonable for a Bed and Breakfast too. We paid $109 after tax for the night, with a full breakfast buffet the next day.

The hotel has three separate buildings for the suites, and a converted barn for the restaurant called The '6 House Pub.

This is a picture of the Pondside House. We booked a room here, but were given a free upgrade. The rooms in this building are Queen Size Bed Sweat Heart rooms.

We were upgraded to a King Size Bed Suite, with a Four Poster Bed in the main building.
This is the front where the office is. We didn't arrive at the hotel till after dark, so it was kind of hard to find the front office. I wish they had a bigger sign to let us know where to go.
We were greeted by two very friendly doggies, and a very nice lady at the desk.

This was our gorgeous room. I loved the wood paneling and huge bed!!!!
We had an electric fireplace, that we kept on all night for ambiance. Very romantic!!!
Our Bathroom was great too!! It was a really pretty shade of green.
We also had a Jacuzzi tub for two!!!

After a good night sleep, with no 11 month old waking us up two-three times, we went to breakfast at their restaurant.
Because there were only My Husband and I and one other couple staying at the hotel, we had a great private breakfast too!!!! The other couple didn't come down.
The Breakfast consisted of the usual pastries, fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. But it also had eggs, bacon and make your own waffles!!!

Of course Ben and I tried everything!!! The food was excellent.

We also got to have a great conversation with Fawn, the lady who took care of us during breakfast. She was very nice. We talked about her grand kids, and her son.

Ben and I had a great time away for the night. The 1896 House was a nice place and if you are ever in the Berkshires, head over to Williamstown, MA and check it out.
